David Kerr

David Kerr is a BAFTA-winning Film & TV director. His latest production, Man Vs Bee, landed on Netflix in June 2022. David directed all nine episodes – starring the legendary Rowan Atkinson.

With 4* reviews in The Guardian and The Independent – and the show described as “a comedy masterpiece” – David talked to Variety about working with Rowan – and creating his CG co-star. David’s first feature, Johnny English Strikes Again, also starred Rowan – alongside double Oscar-winner Emma Thompson. It was 2018’s highest- grossing comedy at the international box office.

On Christmas Eve 2020, Road & Beatrix: The Tail Of The Curious Mouse, premiered on Sky One. A feature-length film about the meeting of two of Britain’s finest children’s authors, it stars Dawn French and won Best TV Movie at the Banff World Media Festival.

David honed his comedy chops in TV, winning Best Comedy BAFTA for That Mitchell and Webb Look(BBC), starring David Mitchell, Robert Webb and Olivia Colman.

As lead director of student house-share comedy Fresh Meat (C4/Hulu), written by Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong (“Succession”), David brought together the cast and set the show’s style. The show won six awards, including the RTS for Best Comedy.

David also helmed all six films in the first season of Inside No.9 (BBC/ Hulu), the acclaimed anthology written by Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton.

In 2016, Russell T. Davies asked David to direct his radical, RTS award-winning film of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, starring Matt Lucas and Maxine Peake.

David’s commercial work includes a US/global campaign for Spotify and award-winning TV spots for Farrow & Ball, Smart Energy and Evolve Gun Control. Recent work includes an acclaimed Argos spot starring Suki Waterhouse and Make My Money Matter, starring Jason Isaacs and co-written with Richard Curtis.
