FLORIAN Reittner
Hailing from Salzburg, Austria, Florian Reittner has a razor-sharp eye for detail, quirky sense of humour, and an uncanny ability to make even the most mundane things look absurdly cinematic.
His journey kicked off in the world of feature-length ski documentaries (because nothing says “cinema” like capturing someone eating it on a double black diamond in glorious slow motion), before working his way up the ranks at Helmet, a Norwegian production and visual effects studio. After leaving Helmet, Florian returned to Austria and founded the production company Nautilus Films.
His 2023 spot The Giving Dead didn’t just win big, it cleaned up. Gold at the Young Director Awards, Art Director’s Club, Andys, and International Awards, plus a Bronze Clio and Ciclope.
His work for Orion (Knights of Passion) and Interrail (Winds of Change) landed nominations at the 2024 AICP Awards, where the latter walked away with the Gold. He also won a nice, shiny statue at the 2025 Shiny Awards, and was nominated for a Young Director Award.
Florian's latest spec ad, Femisphere, is a powerful exploration of domestic abuse. Combining visceral storytelling with striking visual metaphor, the film has earned international recognition, receiving honours from the 1.4 Awards and the Clio Health Awards, alongside recognition from the Lovie and Shorty Awards.
