LUCIA Aniello
Lucia Aniello is a Los Angeles based director, writer and producer best known for her work on the Comedy Central hit series Broad City and for creating and show running the MAX hit series Hacks.
Hacks has earned 48 Emmy nominations and 9 wins to date— including awards for Outstanding Comedy Series, as well as Writing and Directing honors for Lucia herself.
A Columbia grad and UCB alum, Lucia’s sharp wit and clever comedic sensibility first gained attention through her early sketch work with her website and production company, Paulilu Productions, and their well-regarded 2012 project Paulilu Mixtape. She co-wrote and directed the first commercial for Dollar Shave Club, a spot that launched the brand into public consciousness overnight and introduced Lucia to the advertising world.
She also created, wrote, produced, and directed the Comedy Central miniseries Time Traveling Bong and reached a career milestone in 2017 by co-writing and directing the hit comedy Rough Night starring Scarlett Johansson, becoming the first woman to direct an R-rated comedy in nearly 20 years.
Recently, Lucia directed the iconic Walmart “Mean Girls” reunion campaign and the heartfelt Apple holiday film Fuzzy Feelings, which won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Commercial, four Cannes Lions (including a Gold Lion), five D&AD Pencils, seven Gold Pencils at The One Show, and a Gold and two Bronze at the British Arrows.
