David Kerr

David is a BAFTA-winning Film & TV director.

His upcoming project, STAGS, is a pitch black comedy drama (think The Hangover meets Midnight Express) set in South America – and coming to Paramount + in Autumn 2024.

David has brought some of Britain’s most iconic comedies to the screen:

“Are We The Baddies?” (Nazis) is the sketch that launched a thousand memes and helped him win Best Comedy BAFTA for THAT MITCHELL & WEBB LOOK.

FRESH MEAT (C4/Hulu), written by Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong (HBO’s “Succession”).

As lead director, David defined the show’s style and picked the cast. Fresh Meat won six awards, including RTS for Best Comedy.

INSIDE No.9 (BBC/ Hulu). David directed all six films in the first series of the anthology described by The Times as “the funniest, cleverest, most imaginative and original television.”

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM. With writer Russell T. Davies, David crafted a radical, RTS-winning film starring Matt Lucas and Maxine Peake.

ROALD & BEATRIX. Feature film about two of Britain’s best-loved children’s authors starring Dawn French, Rob Brydon and Bill Bailey. Best TV Movie at the Banff World Media Festival.

MAN Vs. BEE. David helmed all nine episodes of the Netflix global smash starring a CG bee – and Rowan Atkinson. David also directed Rowan in JOHNNY ENGLISH STRIKES AGAIN for

Working Title / Universal. Co-starring double Oscar winner Emma Thompson, the film was 2018’s highest-grossing comedy at the international box office.

David’s TV commercial work includes epic Christmas spot “The Story of Lidl Bear”, a US/global campaign for Spotify and award-winning films for Farrow & Ball, Smart Energy, and Evolve Gun Control. Recent work includes “Boyfriend”, introducing Rana fresh pasta to the UK; an acclaimed Argos spot starring Suki Waterhouse; and Make My Money Matter, starring Jason Isaacs and co-written by David with comedy legend Richard Curtis.
